Rental Compliance 2027

Victorian rental standards change on 1 March 2027. Be the partner that's ready.

New leases will need efficient cooling in the living area, and failed hot water systems and heaters must go electric. We set up agents, compliance companies and installers to deliver those upgrades - compliant, audit-ready and generally VEU-rebated, subject to eligibility criteria.

Efficient cooling in the main living area

Required at every new lease or month-to-month conversion from 1 March 2027, and in every rental by 1 July 2030. One compliant reverse-cycle unit covers both the cooling and heating standards.

End-of-life hot water and heaters go electric

From 1 March 2027 a failed hot water system or fixed heater must be replaced with an efficient electric option - heat pump or electric-boosted solar for hot water, reverse-cycle or heat pump for heating. No more like-for-like gas.

See our HVAC and hot water pages for the eligible VEU activities.
